Week 14 - Monday

Circle time:
As described in earlier circle time post
Letters of the week: O and P
Theme of the week: Outer Space and Planets

Arts & crafts:
Today the kids made aliens using various craft materials. First they each drew a sketch of what they wanted their alien to look like and then chose the appropriate materials to bring their creation come to life. The results were great and it was fun for them to compare their initial drawings to their finished products!

Free play at stations:
None.

Story time:
The Magic School Bus Out of This World by Cole/Degen
Dora - The Number Constellations by Imagine Publications
Dora Climbs Star Mountain by Inches/A&J Studios

Cooperative game:
Uno.

Science experiment:
This week's science theme: Outer Space and Planets of course!

Rockets Away
Today the kids did an experiment which demonstrated the basics of how a rocket works. First we attached a string to one end of the room and threaded the other end through a straw. After that one person held onto that end and we attached an inflated balloon to the straw with tape. The person holding the balloon closed then let go and we saw the balloon shoot across the room on the string. Very cool!
