Week 12 - Tuesday

Circle time:
As described in earlier circle time post
Letter of the week: L
Theme of the week: Love and Emotions

Arts & crafts:
None - Medical check-ups for all 3 kids this morning kept us from doing arts and crafts today.

Free play at stations:
None.

Story time:
Dora Loves Boots by Inches/Saunders
Oh, I am So Embarrassed by Dickson/Cooke
That Makes Me Angry! by Best/Cooke

Cooperative game:
Today we played a game where I gave each of the kids 2 little cutout puppets - one with a happy face and one with a sad face. I then read them a short story in which the main character goes back and forth between the 2 feelings and the kids were to hold up the puppet that they thought most appropriately represented the feeling that the character was experiencing, changing it as the feelings in the story changed.

Science experiment:

This week's science theme: L is for Light.

Bouncing Light

Today we took our science activity into a dark closet and the kids experimented with bouncing light off a mirror. They made predictions about where the light would shine if they moved the mirror in various directions and also tried to move the mirror so that the light would shine on specific objects.

Physical activity:
None.

Outing/social time:
Does a visit to the doctor count as social time? For our homeschool it does! The kids all did very well with their checkups and easily related to what the doctor was doing as they remembered how we had role played the exact same thing during our jobs theme week.

Worksheets:
Coloring L word pictures, tracing letter L, tracing L words, finding between, matching picture to beginning letter, matching items that go together, tracing numeral 6, cutting zig-zag lines.

Hands on math:
None.

Computers:
Emotions and feelings stories and games on the iPad (Dusty D. Dawg Has Feelings Too, Feeling Frenzy, Moody Monsters).

Music:
Danced and sang to our Love and Emotions theme compilation cd and acted out the various emotions that we heard in the songs.

French:
French is emphasized throughout the entire day; especially theme related words. Today we practiced saying "Je t'aime" to tell someone they love them and also continued to reinforce all of the notions that we covered in previous weeks. We will continue to practice these sentences all week.
