Week 17 - Friday

Circle time:

Theme of the week: Under the sea and Vacation

Arts & crafts:
Today the kids made and decorated craft foam picture frames which will hold a photo of their choosing from our recent vacation to The Great Escape.


Free play at stations:
None.

Story time:
Diego's Manatee Rescue by Higginson/McGee
Captain Duck by Alborough
Just Grandma and Me by Mayer

Cooperative game:
Go Fish with Diego sea creature cards.


Science experiment:
None.

Physical activity:
Gymnastics class at Le Petit Gym and a field trip to the beach!


Outing/social time:
Gymnastics class at Le Petit Gym and a field trip to the beach!


Worksheets:
Finding words that begin with U and V, finding pictures that begin with U and V, colouring U and V word pictures, filling in the missing U and V, matching written descriptions to theme pictures, filling in missing letters from theme words, counting and writing numeral.

Hands on math:
Today we used Play Doh to practice such notions as bigger than, taller than, shorter than, longer than, smaller than, etc.

Computers:
Under the Sea themed games on the iPad: Flick Fishing, Fish Tales, Memory Cards, Crazy Submarine: Extreme Push, Fish Food Frenzy, Peekaboo Ocean, Aquarium Coloring for Kids Lite, What Has Changed?, The Little Mermaid's Surprise.

Music:
Danced and sang along to our Under the Sea and Vacation theme compilation cd.

French:
French is emphasized throughout the entire day; especially theme related words. Today we practiced saying "C'est facile" and "C'est difficile" to describe when something is easy or hard to do and also continued to reinforce all of the notions that we covered in previous weeks. We will continue to practice these sentences all week.
