Week 18 - Monday

Circle time:

Theme of the week: Weather

Arts & crafts:
Today the kids created clouds and rain collages by gluing cotton balls and rain drop shaped jewels onto construction paper.





Free play at stations:
None.

Story time:
The Magic School Bus Rides the Wind by Capeci/Bracken
The Sweetest Spring by Jordan/Legramandi/Matta
Splish-Splashy Day by Alexander/Ewers

Cooperative game:
Each child was given a grid with 20 umbrellas on it and were to take turns rolling a dice and covering with bingo chips the number of umbrellas that the roll of the dice indicated. The first one to cover their grid was the winner!


Science experiment:
After teaching the kids how to read a thermometer, we then placed it outside and gathered temperature data every 2 hours. We will continue to do this all week long and then graph out results in order to see what the hottest time of day was as well as what the hottest day of the week was.


Physical activity:
Bike/scooter ride around the neighbourhood and play at the park.

Outing/social time:
Weekly library visit.

Worksheets:
Coloring W word pictures, tracing letter W, tracing W words, writing name, tracing numeral 6, counting and finding numeral, matching weather pictures to clothing items, completing shape pattens, cutting curved lines.


Hands on math:
Play with buttons - estimating, counting, sorting by shape, sorting by colour, easy addition and subtraction, patterns.

Computers:
None.

Music:
Danced and sang along to our Weather theme compilation cd.


French:
French is emphasized throughout the entire day; especially theme related words. Today we practiced saying "C'est amusant!" to describe when something is fun and also continued to reinforce all of the notions that we covered in previous weeks. We will continue to practice these sentences all week.
