Cooperative game:
Today we played "cops & robbers" with each of us having a turn to be both the criminal and the police officer (using their newly made hats and badges of course)! It was very interesting to hear their thoughts on why criminals steal, as well as why they thought it was wrong to do so!
Science experiment:
Since the weather this week was forecasted as being sunny and warm, I decided the theme for this week's experiments would be "Outdoor Fun!"
Make a Rainbow
Today the kids tried to create their own rainbows using a glass of water, the rays of the sun and a white sheet of paper. They had a hard time getting the angles just right, so we moved on to trying to do it using the spray from a hose which was much more successful. We also inadvertently created a beautiful rainbow inside using a CD to reflect the sun onto the wall!
Physical activity:
Long walk on the bicycle path and outdoor play in the backyard.
Outing/social time:
None.
Worksheets:
Coloring J word pictures, tracing letter J, tracing J words, finding same, counting and finding numeral, finding tallest in a group, finding item that doesn't belong in group, cutting straight lines.
Hands on math:
None.
Computers:
Job games on the iPad (Swapsies, Great Jobs for Kids, Occupations puzzles).
Music:
Danced, sang and played instruments to our Jobs theme compilation cd.
French:
French is emphasized throughout the entire day; especially theme related words. Today we practiced saying "Est-ce que je peux aller dehors s'il-vous-plait?" when they want to go outside and also continued to reinforce all of the notions that we covered in previous weeks. We will continue to practice these sentences all week.
