Circle time:
As described in earlier circle time post
Letter of the week: L
Theme of the week: Love and Emotions
Arts & crafts:
Today the kids painted while listening to both fast and slow classical music. This exercise was to see if they would paint with different colours and at different tempos depending on what emotions the music made them feel.
Free play at stations:
None.
Story time:
Guess How Much I Love You by McBratney/Jeram
How Is Baby? by Jenner/Jordan
Happy and Sad, Grouchy and Glad by Allen/Brannon
Cooperative game:
Today we played "emotions charades" where we each took turns acting out a different emotion while the others tried to guess what it was.
Science experiment:
This week's science theme: L is for Light.
Bending Light
Today the kids placed markers into half full glasses of water and took a look at them from all angles. They were surprised to see that the markers looked like they were bent when looking at them from the side! We then discussed the speed of light and how it actually travels faster through air than through water, thus playing tricks on our eyes.
Physical activity:
None.
Outing/social time:
Library visit.
8 of our 15 selections were theme related books:
Why Do I Feel Scared? by Thomas/Harker
