Science experiment:
The weather this week was forecasted as being rainy all week long so I decided to make a week long project out of having the kids tabulate the rainfall using a bar graph. First we put together a rain gauge using an empty mayonnaise jar with a ruler attached to the side using rubber bands. Next I showed the kids the weather forecast on the computer and we noted the predicted rainfall amounts for each day on our bar graph. Then we put our rain gauge out on the patio and let it fill up! At the end of each day the kids measured the amount of rain in the jar using the ruler and filled in the appropriate number of units on our graph. We also compared our results to the weather network's forecast to see how close the forecast was to reality!
