Free play at stations

During free play time various stations will be set up throughout the house to promote different areas of learning:

Station 1: Colouring & drawing

This station will offer blank paper for drawing along with various drawing instruments such as pencils, pens, crayons, markers, chalk and pencil crayons. Scissors will be put out as well. Theme related colouring pictures will also be provided.



Station 2: Puzzles station

This station will offer puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty, from easy peg puzzles where each piece fits into its own slot to complicated 100 piece jigsaw puzzles and everything in between. Whenever possible the puzzles will be theme related.





Station 3: Fine motor skills
This station will offer a variety of activities aimed at honing fine motor skills such as lacing, weaving, stringing beads, play-doh, and peg boards. Logic games such as Code Couleur and Geoform will also be part of this station.





Station 4: Themed play & pretend play
This station will include a collection of theme related toys from around the house promoting gross motor skill development and pretend play.



Station 5: Building center

This station will offer various types and sizes of building toys including Lincoln Logs, Trio blocks, K'nex, Lego, Mega Blocks and Imaginarium wooden blocks.



Station 6: Book nook

This will be a reading station with an offering of theme related books. These will also be the books that we will choose from for story time.
