Cooperative game:
Today we played what we call "the show me game" which is a little like Simon Says where one person describes what they want the others to do and the others do it. For our emotions theme we asked for things such as "Show me happy! Show me embarrassed!" and so on.

Science experiment:

This week's science theme: L is for Light.

Light Scavenger Hunt
Today the kids went on a scavenger hunt both inside and out to find various light sources. Once their list was made we discussed which of the light sources were natural and which were artificial as well as what each is used for and how they compare to each other in terms of brightness.

In addition to this we also continued with our shadow experiment from Monday and checked the direction and length of our shadows at 2 more times of day (mid-day and evening) and added the findings to our chart.

Physical activity:
Outdoor play in the backyard.

Outing/social time:
Today Gabe had his kindergarten orientation where he got to interact with his future teachers as well as some of the kids that will be in his class next year. Roxy spent an hour playing with her friends at the YMCA childcare.

Worksheets:
Coloring L word pictures, tracing letter L, tracing L words, writing name, finding between, matching picture to beginning letter, matching picture to word, matching items that go together, matching uppercase to lowercase letters I-L, tracing numeral 7, cutting zig-zag lines.

Hands on math:
Play with buttons - counting, easy addition & subtraction, multiplication concepts, patterns, estimating who has most, estimating total, sorting by colour, sorting by shape, concepts of "more than", "less than" and "equal to".

Computers:
Emotions and feelings stories and games on the iPad (Dusty D. Dawg Has Feelings Too, Feeling Frenzy, Moody Monsters).

Music:
Danced and sang to our Love and Emotions theme compilation cd and acted out the various emotions that we heard in the songs.

French:
French is emphasized throughout the entire day; especially theme related words. Today we practiced saying "Je t'aime" to tell someone they love them and also continued to reinforce all of the notions that we covered in previous weeks. We will continue to practice these sentences all week.
