While worksheets are a good tool for teaching math, I think that a hands on approach to learning math skills is incredibly important.
Having the kids be able to physically manipulate items to develop skills in counting, grouping, sorting, and measuring as well as understand concepts such as more/less/equal, same/different, and pattern recognition will provide a better in-depth understanding than simply seeing it on a page.
The items we will use will vary from week to week, such as buttons, beads or coins. Even fishy crackers can do the trick!
