Science experiment:

Theme this week is the 5 Senses

What's That Smell experiment from Sid the Science Kid
9 different items (cinnamon, ketchup, toothpaste, syrup, peanut butter, chocolate, lotion, salsa & coffee) were placed in plastic cups and covered with foil. Small holes were punched in the foil and the kids were asked to determine what was in each cup based on their sense of smell alone. We then verified their guesses by using their sense of sight. We also discussed how much easier it is to identify things using more than one of our senses and talked about how the blind and the deaf need to compensate for their one missing sense by relying more heavily on the others.

Physical activity:
Gabe wasn't feeling well today so we kept our play low energy.

Outing/social time:

Library visit. 6 of our 15 selections were theme related books:
Le Corps by L'imagerie des Bébés
Hokey Pokey Elmo by Tabby/Brannen
The Eye Book by LeSeig/Mathieu
The Tooth Book by LeSieg/McKie
My First Book About the 5 Senses by Einhorn/Maroney
Let's Look at Bodies by Tuxworth

Hands on math:

French:
French is emphasized throughout the entire day; especially theme related words. Today we practiced answering "Je ne comprends pas" when they don't understand something said to them in French and "Je ne sais pas" when they understand but don't know the answer. We will continue to practice these sentences all week.
